Our dogs are AKC registered; (usually!) and we are glad to work with Terv lovers who want to be a part of keeping these rare old lines alive and well into the future. The Old Style Tervurens are amazing dogs, but basically on the extinction list, so they need passionate people to advocate for them... even just as single-dog-owning ambassadors for the breed, or as small, heart-felt breeders. Raising puppies is hard work, (worth it, if you have time!) but these Tervs are too wonderful to loose to the cares of the world. (Such as health problems, which ours are free of.)

Non-refundable deposit holds a person's "pick place" in line, (and that deposit can be "rolled forward" to a later pup instead if something unexpected comes up.)

Our AKC registered pups are priced from 2500 to 3000 for companion range (limited AKC papers) I assess personalities and build for and compare to what I consider "the ideal" and ones who have discrepancies in size, or temperament quirks, or something will make great companions, but aren't as perfectly alligned with what the Old Style Belgian Shepherd should be aiming for.

"Premium pups", who I assess to be top notch, breeding quality, individuals run in the 3500 to 4000 range. (These come with full papers, so folks who want to have the option of a possible litter in future I encourage to opt for a premium quality pup; & some folks just want this kind because they believe they deserve the best, and these guys are the closest to perfection as they come!)

"...She is truly becoming Echo the Wonder Dog just like her grandpa Flash. Echo's special magic continues to be finding people who need her anywhere we go. I don't know how she does it. [...] She is pure magic, and possibly part unicorn!"

Kate R. in Utah; professional psychologist and former "cat person" along with her husband. Her True Knight dog for therapy work has converted them both to "Terv lovers" now! {As evidenced by update on their 2nd True Knight pup, below.}

"...[Jake got] Bravo the Hakuna Matata collar, because it perfectly sums up his personality. His new favorite past time is bouncing around the back yard chasing butterflies [...] It is basically the cutest thing ever!"

"Within 3 days of arriving [Reagan] knew Sit, down, stay, go lay down, and kennel commands. She is without a doubt the smartest Dog I have ever known.... I can say nothing but positive things. Double-K made my total experience of getting the dog of my dreams easy."

David S Roberts, New Albany, In.

Best blacks you will find! Friendly, happy nature and nurturing. Lovely temperament with absolutely classic looks!

All cases are individual, and we try very hard to make sure that each person-puppy match is "the one" for them. We welcome all inquiries, and are happy to talk with anyone wanting to know more!

(Past litters are here.) (Litter videos are here.)

Okay, the nitty-gritty details!

We don't have a "form to complete", instead we talk with each prospective buyer to really get a feel for their individual situation and enable us to ensure the best possible matches. We are so thrilled with most folks who are interested in the breed, they all seem to be so enthusiastic about spending time with their dogs and really crave the personal bond that Belgians do so well with.

I definitely think that the personality of the pup is as important as anything else, so I work closely with the new owner on the best pick for their situation.

We do not ship, but highly appreciate when the buyer is able to make arrangements to pick up their pup in person, or have a friend get them on the way home from a vacation or something. At 8 weeks, a Tervuren puppy is the size of a Pomeranian, so can fit nicely as carry-on for flights home!

Puppies do not leave until 8 weeks old. They are ready for beginning Formal Training whenever their people want; but their development hasn't been ignored previous to this, either! What we do up to 8 weeks is not Formal Training, but more like "Intentional Handling" with the eye toward developing a mind already on the track for a Formal Training program later at their new home.
At 8 weeks a puppy is already:
Happy to see people, wants to be with them, chooses to follow on walks and pays attention to the person even to where they will prefer a person's attention over the "pack's". They will leave their siblings and crawl into a person's lap, because people are more fun!
They come with excitement and expect good things to happen when they're with a person. They respect a person as pack leader, and understand that sometimes they can't have their own way. And this is okay.
They understand and respond to verbal encouragement, and associate positively with a person's voice.
They respect the word "No" and will sit down and look at something if the person says, "No" they can't have it.
At that stage they don't always pay attention long, don't have much of an attention span, and often forget what they just picked up...
But having a consistent handling technique that prevents bad habits before they start, and sets up the foundation for good ones to begin, can really jump-start the joy of training with their new people, and is really, really important with new owners who may not be really great at a training program already. (Sign up for puppy classes, and learn with your pup!!!)

We've had several folks who aren't into much training, just wanted a good friend. With the foundation that we'd already begun, their pups are a joy to live with even without a lot of input from the new people. Because the pups already expect to instinctively listen, they don't require in-depth re-training to pay attention, and can easily "do the thinking" for those who aren't expert trainers themselves.

These dogs are highly capable of wrapping unwitting owners around their little paws, but with our foundational handling we help to ensure they will at least be benevolent tyrants. *:) happy

It's important for puppies to receive their 1st puppy shots around 6 weeks, we use Safeguard/Panacur as a wormer; we feed raw meat and bones, raw dairy products and farm fresh eggs, (living on our own farm is a huge benefit in the lives of our family as well as our animals!) For a kibble, we highly recommend Life's Abundance, shipped direct from the American manufacturer for optimum freshness. (Small/Medium Puppy is best for them when little, then All Life Stages as a grownup.)

Please feel free to contact us about any of our dogs or litters, we are always happy to try and find the right match for you.

Because of the hustle and bustle, the best way to get a hold of us is to simply pick up the phone. There's almost always someone available to answer.

We enjoy hearing from you!

We are available at 417-292-9332, any day but Friday.

We are located 45 mi. north west of Springfield, Missouri.

"I have one of the best puppies ever! Argus is such a joy. [...] He is so smart and quickly picks up on new commands.  I can't wait to teach him fly ball."
